% \subsection{\translation{German definitions}{Duitse definities}}\label{sec:germandef}
% \setcounter{CodelineNo}{0}
%
% This file covers part of what a language file holds, and says which part. What is here was measured in
% the German text of the General Data Protection Regulation: the words a provision is called by, and the
% register an act of the Union is cited in. What is not here is how German words an \emph{internal}
% reference\,---\,the \cmd{\rref@setup} of \zcref{sec:lang}\,---\,which was not measured, and which is
% left to whoever can check the result rather than guessed at. A German document therefore gets German
% designations in the English arrangement, which is visible and wrong rather than invisible and wrong.
%
% The connective before the name of a document is a different matter, and German is the language that
% decides it for all of them. It is a genitive, and the genitive reshapes the word it governs: counted in
% the same text, \enquote{der Verordnung} sixteen times and \enquote{der Richtlinie} twenty-nine, but
% \enquote{des Vertrags} and \enquote{des Beschlusses}\,---\,never \emph{des Vertrag}. The ending is on the
% noun, so knowing the article would not be enough, and no rule over a connective and a subject in the
% nominative can produce the phrase. The connective is therefore declared empty here, which makes
% \cmd{\documentlabel} ask for a \texttt{ref label} instead of wording it wrongly in silence.

% How an act of the Union is cited in German: \texttt{Artikel 6 Absatz 1 Buchstabe a}, without commas
% between the parts and with the genitive before the name of the instrument.
%
% There is no register for German federal law here. That law writes \texttt{\S~5 Abs.~2 Nr.~3 BGB}, which
% is another construction and not a translation of this one, and it needs the local counterparts of the
% sources this bundle leans on. Whoever has those can write it in this file; what is missing is a
% convention of a legal order, not a handful of words.
